The HLA 42-inch Soil Conditioner is a compact hydraulic soil conditioner for mini and small-frame skid steers preparing seedbeds and cultivating soil in confined areas. Carbide-tipped rotor drum pulverizes compacted earth for planting and seeding. Ontario-manufactured by Horst Welding. - Inspect carbide rotor teeth after every use — chipped or worn teeth cut unevenly and increase hydraulic motor load significantly
- Replace teeth in matched pairs across the rotor to maintain balance — uneven tooth wear creates vibration that stresses motor bearings and the drive system
- Grease rotor shaft bearing housings after every 8 hours of operation
- Clean packed soil from behind the rotor guard and between tooth mounts after every use — buildup restricts rotation and can cause the rotor to stall in normal material
- Check the hydraulic motor drive coupler and belts (if belt-driven) for wear weekly during active season — belt failure in the middle of a job is a common and avoidable breakdown

- Lower rotor to working depth before engaging rotation
- Make first pass at half speed to verify depth and rock clearance
