Overview
Bobcat's log splitter attachment converts a skid steer into a high-production firewood splitter. The hydraulic ram drives a splitting wedge through rounds up to 20+ inches in diameter — much faster than standalone hydraulic splitters. Ideal for rural Canadian properties and cord-wood operations. Available through authorized Bobcat dealers in Canada.

Is This Right For You?
✅ Buy if…
- You're processing brush, saplings, and slash in place — drum mulchers handle mixed material up to 6 inches
- Land clearing, pipeline corridor prep, or right-of-way maintenance where material stays on site
- Your machine has the high-flow hydraulics required — drum mulchers typically need 25-35+ GPM
⛔ Skip if…
- Your skid steer is standard-flow — most drum mulchers require high-flow to run efficiently
- Tree diameter exceeds 8 inches regularly — a dedicated forestry mulcher or felling head handles larger material
🔍 Also consider…
- Forestry mulcher for heavier timber and larger diameter material
- Rotary cutter or brush cutter if material size is consistently under 3 inches
🔧 Machine Compatibility
Designed for Bobcat machines but mounts to any skid steer or CTL with a universal SSQA quick-attach plate.
About Bobcat in Canada
Bobcat is one of the most recognized skid steer brands in Canada, with a dealer presence in every province. Their OEM attachments are engineered specifically for Bobcat machines but use universal SSQA mounts for cross-brand compatibility.
Care & Maintenance
- Inspect carbide hammers or teeth before every use — missing or broken hammers unbalance the rotor and can cause catastrophic motor damage at high RPM
- Replace worn teeth in matched sets across the rotor — even one missing hammer creates vibration destructive enough to damage drive motor bearings
- Grease rotor shaft bearing housings every 4–8 hours of operation, or more frequently in dusty or abrasive conditions
- Clean packed fibrous material from the housing interior and rotor after every session — buildup adds asymmetric weight and creates rotor imbalance
- Check the hydraulic motor case drain line monthly for leakage — a restricted or failed case drain causes motor shaft seal failure and internal leakage
How to Connect
- Attach mulcher head using Bob-Tach
- Connect high-flow hydraulic couplers
- Verify rotor direction — debris should eject downward, not toward operator
- Run at idle for 30 seconds before engaging rotor at working speed
⚠ Safety NoteMulchers are high-flow only (25-45 GPM+) — do not run on standard flow machines. Wear full PPE — flying debris risk.
🌲 Before You Buy a Mulcher
Mulchers are high-investment, high-flow attachments — the wrong match to your machine costs you in performance and potentially in repairs.

Confirm Machine Fit
Verify your machine's hydraulic flow meets this attachment's requirements before ordering. High-flow attachments need 25–45+ GPM — standard flow machines won't run them properly.
