Manitou Skid Steer & Track Loader Attachments — Compatibility Guide

Manitou builds their skid steers and compact track loaders in Madison, South Dakota, and sells across Canada through regional dealers. Their V-series skid steers and VT-series CTLs cover a wide range of machine classes — but before buying any attachment, you need your model's hydraulic flow output and a clear answer on which quick-attach system your machine uses.

Manitou traces its roots to the first rough-terrain forklift built in 1957. Their compact loader line now spans small radial-lift models under 1,700 lbs capacity up to large vertical-lift units at 3,200 lbs. The VT-series CTLs include Manitou's patented IdealTrax automatic track tensioning system, which sets them apart from most competitors. Canadian operators find Manitou machines particularly well-suited to land clearing, agriculture, and construction work in conditions where a strong total cost of ownership matters.

Quick-Attach System: Mechanical and Power-A-Tach

All Manitou skid steer and track loader models use the universal mechanical quick-attach (SSQA) plate as standard. This is the skid steer industry standard — the same mount used by Bobcat, Case, Cat, John Deere, and most other brands. The vast majority of aftermarket Canadian attachment brands (HLA, TMG, Virnig, Blue Diamond, Werk-Brau, etc.) are built to this standard and will bolt directly to any Manitou quick-attach receiver.

Manitou also offers their proprietary Power-A-Tach hydraulic quick-attach system as an option. Power-A-Tach uses hydraulic cylinders to engage and release the attachment locking pins from the cab — no getting out to flip pins manually. Important notes:

Key point: Manitou's standard quick-attach and Power-A-Tach both accept universal SSQA plates. Most Canadian third-party attachments are built to SSQA spec and will fit Manitou machines directly — no adapters required.

What You Can Run on a Manitou

Standard Flow — All Models (15–29 GPM)

Buckets Pallet Forks Snow Pushers Snow Blades Angle Brooms Augers Post Drivers Dozer Blades Landplanes Power Rakes Grapples Stump Grinders Hydraulic Breakers (medium) Cement Mixers

High-Flow Required High Flow

Mulchers (forestry grade) Cold Planers Heavy Flail Mowers Heavy Rotary Cutters Breakers (large class) High-Output Snow Blowers

High-flow is optional on 2100V, 2300V, 2750V, 2100VT, 2300VT, 2750VT, and standard or optional on the larger 2700V NXT2, 3300V NXT2, and 3200VT. Small radial-lift models (1050R, 1350R, 1650R) do not offer high-flow — factor this in if you're planning to run mulching heads or cold planers on a smaller machine.

Manitou CTL: IdealTrax and Why It Matters for Canadian Use

Manitou's patented IdealTrax system automatically maintains proper track tension using a hydraulic mechanism, eliminating the need to manually grease and adjust track tensioners. In Canadian conditions — freeze-thaw cycles, clay soils, and abrasive gravel — track tension management is a significant maintenance item. IdealTrax reduces this burden and extends track life, which is a meaningful operating cost factor across a full Canadian season.

What to Ask Your Manitou Dealer

  1. "What is my model's aux hydraulic flow — standard and high-flow?" Get the GPM from the dealer or your operator manual. Don't guess from the model name alone.
  2. "Is high-flow installed and active on this machine?" High-flow is an option on many Manitou models — confirm whether your specific unit has it enabled.
  3. "Does this machine have Power-A-Tach or manual quick-attach?" Both accept universal SSQA plates, but the release mechanism differs. Know what you have before buying used attachments.
  4. "What operating pressure does my aux circuit run at?" Some attachments (breakers, rotary cutters) have max pressure requirements — confirm your circuit pressure matches the attachment spec.
