Sizing Guide
A 6-cubic-foot drum handles most fence post and footing work — roughly 1.5 bags of premix at a time. Step up to 9–12 cubic feet for larger footings and small slab sections. 16 cubic feet is for production work where you're doing multiple sequential pours. Each batch takes 5–10 minutes to mix — estimate your required pour volume and work backward to select drum size.
Hydraulic Flow
Cement mixers are low-demand standard-flow attachments. They typically require only 8–15 GPM — within range of virtually any skid steer with auxiliary hydraulics. No high-flow required. This makes them one of the most universally compatible hydraulic attachments available.

⚠ Most Common Mistake
Not pre-wetting the drum before first use. Fresh concrete bonds permanently to a dry drum. Always add water and a small amount of coarse aggregate before your first real batch on a new or long-idle mixer — this prevents concrete from caking on the drum interior, which is nearly impossible to remove once cured.
Skid steer cement mixer attachments let you mix and place concrete without a transit mixer — useful for fence posts, footings, small slabs, and remote pours.
