Bobcat Skid Steer Attachments — Compatibility Guide

Bobcat is the most widely sold skid steer brand in Canada. Before buying any attachment for a Bobcat machine, you need to know your model's hydraulic flow output and whether you're using the OEM Bob-Tach system or a universal quick-attach conversion. Here's what you need to know.

Bobcat's S-series and T-series machines are found on job sites from Victoria to Halifax. Their universal quick-attach compatibility and wide dealer network make them the default choice for many Canadian contractors. But "I have a Bobcat" isn't enough information when purchasing attachments — flow output varies significantly across the S-series lineup, and whether your machine is high-flow equipped changes what you can run.

Bob-Tach vs Universal Quick Attach

Bobcat uses their proprietary Bob-Tach quick-attach system on all S-series and T-series machines. Bob-Tach uses two wedge-style locking pins driven by the operator from the cab. It's fast and reliable.

The important distinction:

Bob-Tach IS compatible with universal quick-attach. This is a common source of confusion. The Bobcat Bob-Tach receiver accepts universal quick-attach plates — you don't need an adapter for most third-party attachments. The systems are dimensionally compatible at the mounting plate level.

What You Can Run on a Bobcat

Standard Flow (all models)

Buckets Pallet Forks Snow Pushers Snow Blades Angle Brooms Augers Post Drivers Dozer Blades Landplanes Power Rakes Grapples Stump Grinders Hydraulic Breakers (medium) Cement Mixers

High-Flow Required High Flow

Mulchers (forestry grade) Heavy Flail Mowers Heavy Rotary Cutters Breakers (large class)

High-flow is an option on the S650 and above. If your Bobcat doesn't have the high-flow option installed, most dealers can retrofit it — confirm with your local Bobcat dealer.

What to Ask Your Dealer

  1. "What is my machine's aux hydraulic flow output — standard and high-flow if equipped?" Get this number in GPM from the dealer or operator manual. Don't guess.
  2. "Is my high-flow option installed and active?" High-flow must be enabled on machines that have it as an option. Some machines leave the dealer without it activated even though the hardware is present.
  3. "What is the operating pressure on my aux circuit?" Some attachments (especially breakers) have minimum and maximum pressure requirements, not just flow. Confirm pressure matches the attachment spec.
  4. "Does this attachment use standard universal quick-attach or a proprietary mount?" Ask this when buying any used or non-standard attachment.
